Memory of Place is an audio exploration of memory in Dublin city centre. Part of The Festival of Curiosity, 2015.

Memories are everywhere.
Every road we walk down, every path we cross, every street in every city we’ve ever been.
Someone somewhere has had a moment right there.
Right where we’re standing.
Memories of things that happened. Or didn’t happen
Of People we met. And love.
Or Places we love.

What are memories?
Where do they come from?
And where do we place them?

Memory of Place is an exploration by Dr. Niamh Shaw of what it is to remember both as a human and as a scientist. Presented as a downloadable interactive audio map of Dublin, created by Mick O’Brien, Memory Place asks you to explore what memory is for you. With content from Shane O’Meara, Professor of Experimental Brain Research at Trinity College, who describes the function of memory and why and how we remember, you then embark on a walking meditation on Memory. As secret locations pop-up, you can let Niamh, her colleagues and friends take you to their somewhere special, as they each share a cherished Memory Place.

Or may be you can ponder your own.
At your own special Memory Place.
Because the most wonderful things happen in the most insignificant places.

Special thanks to Elburz Sorkhabi for soundscape design.
